What the Jobcenter actually covers under Book II of the Social Code (SGB II), separated into its three layers: the standard allowance, housing and heating costs, and additional needs. Including what most applicants miss: household electricity sits inside the flat rate while heating and hot water sit outside it, the one-year grace period on actual rent with the one-and-a-half ceiling that applies from day one, the 17% pregnancy supplement, the single-parent supplement, and the childbirth grant that is paid as a grant rather than a loan and reaches people who receive no other benefit. Alongside them the child supplement (Kinderzuschlag) for working households whose income falls short.
